With over 20 years of experience in weight loss management, we offer a full range of bariatric surgery. Dr Oliver Florica, MD FRACS
I am an Australian trained and qualified surgeon of excellence.
I obtained my FRACS passing my exams at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in 2002 after training on the Victorian/Tasmanian program from Royal Melbourne Hospital.
From 1994 when I entered my Medical School until 2002 when I qualified as a FRACS, I underwent one of the most diverse and uninterrupted training in surgery becoming one of the most complete surgeon specialists. During these 18 years of training I worked in three countries and multiple cities from prestigious teaching hospital to country secondments under over 300 specialists. My training introduced me early to trauma, reconstructive and plastic surgery but then to almost every surgical speciality from orthopaedics, vascular, urology, gastrointestinal surgery to neurosurgical emergencies, cardiac and thoracic surgery. I spent years in South Africa and Australia training in advanced life supportive management in surgical, cardiac, and respiratory intensive care units. My assessments during these 18 years have always been very good and excellent.
My practice today continues to offer surgical services in difficult areas of surgery such as the extremely obese patients, wheatear I am doing a weight loss procedure, a bowel resection, or a cosmetic procedure. My skills range from sound technical and anatomical knowledge and principles in open surgery to advanced laparoscopic and robotic techniques.
In my private life I am a family man with four children and my wife, a general practitioner and ex-active-duty captain in the Australian Defence Forces.
My hobbies also take me to the extreme training and perfection. For twenty-five years I have flown as a private pilot, built three experimental aircrafts and flew as a test pilot. By myself or together with my family we flew from Lord Howe Island to Perth and from Hobart to Darwin visiting almost every iconic place in Australia in the most original way. While I received my pilot qualification in Australia, I underwent further training in the USA and together with the family we flew the USA from North to South and East to West from the snow fields and national parks to Elvis’s mansion and from Niagara Falls to Washington DC and further into Canada. One of my most daring flights was to be the only pilot who has ever crossed the Pacific Ocean solo from California to Australia landing at Kingsford Smith international Airport in the smallest plane that could have made it, a Cessna 172.
Dr Rebecca Keeley, MBBS FRACGP
Dr Keeley is a specialist in general practice and provides comprehensive medical assessment and management of your post-operative weight loss program in conjunction with your own general practitioner and allied health professionals.
Within our bariatric practice, Dr Keeley undertakes assessment, counselling, dietary advice, lifestyle interventions, band adjustment and assists with surgery. Dr Keeley also maintains a keen interest in general practice through her work at Fox Valley Medical Centre, Sydney Adventist Hospital.
